Purrseverance Release Day!

Purrseverance

Today is the day we've all been waiting for - Purrseverance: Inspiring Stories of Cat Resilience and Hope releases!

I've dreamt of this day for the past decade, and it's finally come to fruition.

And I have SO many people to thank for helping turn my dream into a reality.

I'm thankful for all the contributors; their stories made this book an amazing one! Robin Bisha, Janet Buickerood Blue, Belinda Brady, Marjorie Dawson, Debbie De Louise, Terry Frum, Linda Kay Hardie, JaneA Kelley, Katherine Kern, Laurie Miller, Lorianne Miller, Terilynn Mitchell, and Julia Williams contributed fantastic stories about their kitties to this collection. You can read more about each contributor on our Purrseverance page Thank you to Ann from Zoolatry for helping me get the photos for the book print-ready, designing an adorable bookmark, and making book badges.

Thank you to everyone for your patience! This project took me longer than I had anticipated. I wanted it to be purrfect before I sent it out into the world.

Here's the blurb from the back of the book:

What do cats do when faced with adversity? They persevere. "Purrseverance" contains 16 accounts of how our feline friends triumphed over life's challenges: from the cat who learned to trust after surviving a hoarding situation, to the cat who conquered a life-threatening illness, to the cats who persisted and eventually found their loving forever homes. Each account is told through the eyes of the cat. These tales show that even seemingly hopeless situations can turn around. These stories will inspire you to keep going and persevere when facing adversities in your own life. "Purrseverance" was compiled by award-winning cat writer and enthusiast, Sierra M. Koester.

You can purchase your copy of Purrseverance: Inspiring Stories of Cat Resilience and Hope in print and ebook from BookBaby, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.

Twenty-five percent of sales proceeds will go to Colorado Feline Foster Rescue

Siamese: The Social Butterflies of the Cat World

Today is National Siamese Cat Day, and, just in case it wasn't completely obvious, I'm a Meezer lover.

I originally shared this article on December 10, 2020, so some of you may have already read it.

Tylan doesn't need to know that National Siamese Cat Day slipped my mind.....

Please show all the Siamese cats in your life a little extra love today!

Tylan
Tylan is a handsome seal-point Siamese who came to the United States after being rescued from Bangkok, Thailand.

My cat, Tylan, is a handsome seal-point Siamese. Tylan was rescued from Bangkok, Thailand. He was being cared for by a cat hoarder who rescued him from Bangkok's streets. True to a Siamese's nature, Tylan is loving, affectionate, and people-oriented despite the extraordinary challenges he's faced in his life.

I've been owned by Siamese for more than 15 years now. While their gorgeous appearance is what initially drew me to the breed, it is the breed's personality characteristics that stole my heart. I have no doubt that after you read about the Siamese, you'll fall in love with them, too.

Happy 1st Birthday, Giovanni!

Hi everybody! It's mes, Giovanni! Do you know what today be? It be MY FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! That's right, a year ago today, me and my brother and sisters came into de world. Me weighed a whole 4.1 ounces! Mama says hers can't even imagine how tiny me was then.

Giovanni

Mama came to meet me when mes was about 9.5 weeks old. Hers learned at dat visit that mes like to climb! Mes kept trying to climb over the barrier in my room when hers came to visit. After mes watched hers to play with my siblings for a little bit, mes went over and hopped up on the stool right by hers and mes stayed close to hers the rest of the time hers was there. Mes even took a little nap by her. Mama really hoped mes was her kitten, but mes already knew hers was my human.

A couple of days later, mes gotted to go home with Mama! Here is a photo of mes on my Gotcha Day with Mama's friend, Steve. Wasn't me tiny?! Mes only weighed 2.4 pounds then, and Mama could hold me in one hand. Hers couldn't get over how tiny me was. Hers would say that Tylan looked like a giant when we sat side by side. MOL.

Giovanni and Steve

Since mes came home when me was only 10 weeks old, Mama has gotten to watch me grow to be a big boy and has learned lots about me.

One of the first things hers learned about me is that me loves me a bagel! Yep, bagels. Not even for the cream cheese. Me loves to try and eat Mama's plain bagel if hers looks away for two seconds. Since then, Mama has also learned that me loves oatmeal, waffle batter, cereal, and blueberry muffins! Breakfast is mines favoritest meal of de day.
